What to expect

Preschool

Preschool introduces children to a structured learning environment, with a progressive curriculum that covers all areas of a young child's development. The focus is on social and emotional growth alongside academic skills in reading, writing, math, religion, social studies and science, with activities that let children learn through their senses. m. What this looks like in practice

A Preschool morning usually moves in a steady rhythm. Children arrive, hang up their things, and start with a short group time. Then come centers: blocks, books, art, puzzles and a sensory table. Teachers sit with small groups, ask questions, and help children take turns. There is usually a snack, music or movement, and time outside or in a large-motor space.

The benefit shows up at home. A child who has practiced sharing, waiting for a turn and asking an adult for help starts doing those things with siblings and neighbors. They hold a crayon differently, retell a story, or count out plates for the table. That early practice with routine and other children makes the next school year easier.
